Financial freedom can mean a lot of things. For most, it means having more time, options – and hope. My Education Solutions (MES) believes in the power of higher education, as well as giving hope to the millions of Americans struggling with the burden of student loan debt. That’s why MES is giving a slice of financial freedom to deserving graduates from college and universities across the nation. MES and its partner Texas A&M University-San Antonio (A&M-SA) are proud to announce Joyce Raposo as the first recipient of their $5,000 Freedom Grant for Student Loan Forgiveness.

Raposo, a Journalism major graduating this May, was selected based on being able to spend time with her family and not have to take a second job to pay off her student loan debt and the positive legacy she’s leaving behind with her fellow A&M-SA jaguars.

Raposo served in a variety of roles, including the editor-in-chief, for the university’s online student newspaper, The Mesquite News. She made a lasting impression on her colleagues and other students, who will remember her journalistic integrity, creativity, and mentorship.

As a non-traditional student who returned to school after a long hiatus, Raposo hopes to be a role model to other students, as well as anyone who is pursuing a goal later in life. “I remind students how important education is at any age and how important it is to pursue your dreams, no matter how long it takes to fulfill them,” she says.

In addition to the $5,000 Freedom Grant, MES is using its path to true student loan forgiveness to help Joyce save more than $500 on her student loan payments each month with My Education Solutions Student Loan Forgiveness Program.

Raposo says this grant and what she’ll save monthly on her student loan debt will give her and her husband the flexibility to focus on other goals other than just work – like positively affecting their community and spending time with her family.

Passionate about education, Raposo now plans to join her local PTA and advocate for children and teachers in her community, better educational programs, and more funding. “Education is vital to our society and our children. I want to help the children of my community reach their goals by providing them the tools a good education can provide,” says Raposo.

Please join us in congratulating and wishing Joyce well on her win and upcoming graduation, as well as her goals for the future!
